The gang leave the damaged RV behind, and approach the shielded city on foot (and hoverboard), to attract less attention.


The complex appears made of portable building modules- advanced, but weathered by age and exposure to the elements.  The force shield extends all the way around.  Inside, several teens and elders go about their routines.


Ellie phases through the shield, leaving her somewhat disoriented and drained.


Outside, the crew have drawn the attention of a massive Metalsaur!  It moves in quickly for the kill...


...but as it nears Chet, it stops, and regards him curiously, perhaps sensing the metal ID tag Chet salvaged from the dead scientist earlier.


Taking advantage of the hesitation, DW-40 desperately grapples and jacks into the Metalsaur, taking control of it while Chet warps behind the shield.


As one of the kids in the compound walks by, Ellie manifests like a hologram out of a console and begs him to lower the Shield.


With the shield down, DW-40 and the neurolinked Metalsaur move inside the compound.



Jambo and Bragg move in, and are greeted by adults claiming to be their younger sister and cousin!?


Elsewhere, several Saurans sneak into the compound while the shields are down...


An elderly scientist comes out and reactivates the shields, unaware of the intruders.


The Scientist, Elanor Floyd, reveals she is the daughter of Dr. Dwight D. Floyd, who disappeared years ago.   Could it have been the same Dr. Floyd that Chet and Ellie worked for, in L.N. Spur?  

Elanor was just a kid in Beren Gulls when her dad disappeared.   She took up her father's work to try to find him, but instead found a new home for her people here in Melinzerg...

Meanwhile back at the outpost, Sarah has returned to find her friends have gone, the RV abandoned, and a giant hole tunneled into the ground.  She tows the RV and drives into the dark tunnel, hoping it will lead to her friends...


Sarah sees something strange and massive in the darkness ahead... but it slips away as tremors threaten to collapse the tunnel!


Soon the city feels the ground shake with increasing intensity...


...until a huge sinkhole opens up, revealing a tunnel beneath!


Sarah emerges from the tunnel, and drives out of the depths to reconnect with everyone.


Exhausted after days of chasing, driving and surviving, Sarah tells the others about the strange orange machine beast, before conking out.

Dr. Elanor Floyd wonders if the beast could be an old ExcaGator, gone rogue...

Suddenly, a pack of Saurans scurry down into the tunnel, intent on escaping the shielded city with their loot!


Sarah startles awake from her dream of Saurans stealing her food.  "BERRIES!"  She shouts, before peeling out to pursue the looters.  Chet swings aboard. 


DW-40 and Ellie follow, on board the reprogrammed Metalsaur.


Sarah and Chet track the Saurans through the darkness, dodging debris and aftershocks in the unstable tunnel.


The Saurans split up, so Sarah and Chet follow two of them down the main tunnel...


... While the Metalsaur terrorizes the other two!


Suddenly the first two drop their loot and flee back down the tunnel- and it becomes clear why!


As Sarah U-turns away from the ExcaGator, it snatches the dropped loot and bites it in half!  Does it... eat metal?!


Ellie moves in for a devastating Flash attack, stunning the ExcaGator.


DW's Metalsaur moves in to finish the job, tearing open the ExcaGator's hazardous Dark Matter Reactor!


The ever-growing sphere of destruction consumes the ExcaGator as everyone watches in horror. 


Just before the sphere of destruction winks out, a brief glimpse of another land- and a man- can be seen...

DWis convinced it was his home dimension of Hellborg.  The others wonder, was the man Dr. Dwight D. Floyd!?

Returning to the city, Sarah makes friends with the Screaming Gulls kids, and they visit the scene of destruction for some wicked half-bowl boarding action.
